The long-awaited UFC 253 event is just around the corner, and fight fans everywhere are getting ready to see one of the most stacked cards in recent memory. Headlined by a highly anticipated rematch between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa, this event is sure to be one for the ages.
In addition to the main event, there are several other exciting matchups taking place on the main card. In the co-main event, Dominick Reyes will take on Jan Blachowicz for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. This will be a rematch of their Fight of the Night bout from earlier this year, which saw Reyes come out on top.
Also on the main card, Hakeem Dawodu will take on Zubaira Tukhugov in a featherweight bout, and Lauren Murphy will battle Katlyn Chookagian in a women’s flyweight bout.
The main card is set to begin at 10:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM PT on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
UFC 253 Main Card: What Time Is It?
The UFC 253 main card will start at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 19. The event will be held at Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The main card will feature two title fights. In the main event, UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will put his title on the line against No. 1 contender Paulo Costa. The co-main event will see another title fight, as UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on Justin Gaethje for the lightweight title.
The rest of the main card includes Alexander Volkov vs. Walt Harris, Hakeem Dawodu vs. Max Holloway, and Caitlin Kavanagh vs. Miranda Maverick.
The Main Card
The Main Card of UFC 253 will start at 10 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. PDT on Saturday, September 19 (4 a.m. BST / 1 a.m. EST on September 20).
The Main Event
UFC 253 will feature a highly-anticipated middleweight title rematch between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa. The two men met previously at UFC 248 in March, with Adesanya winning a unanimous decision.
The title will also be on the line in the co-main event, as Jan Blachowicz looks to defend his light heavyweight championship against Dominick Reyes. Reyes was scheduled to fight for the title against then-champion Jon Jones at UFC 247 in February, but Jones withdrew from the bout due to injury.
The Co-Main Event
The co-main event at UFC 253 will be a welterweight bout between Alex “The Bullet” Oliveira and Muslim “The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion” Salikhov. Both men are currently ranked in the top 15 of the UFC’s welterweight division and a win for either man would solidify their place in the title picture. The current UFC welterweight champion is Kamaru Usman, who will be defending his title against Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 253.
The Rest of the Main Card
The main card of UFC 253 will feature some of the best mixed martial artists in the world. The headliner will be a title bout between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa. The early prelims for UFC 253 will begin at 6:00 PM EST on ESPN+. The main card will then follow at 10:00 PM EST, also on ESPN+.
The Main Card Analysis
The UFC 253 main card is set to be one of the most stacked cards of the year. It will feature a number of the promotion’s top stars, including Israel Adesanya, Paulo Costa, and Dominick Reyes. In addition, the card will also include two title fights.
The main event will see Israel Adesanya put his middleweight title on the line against Paulo Costa. This will be a rematch of their previous bout which took place at UFC 241 in August of 2019. In that fight, Adesanya won via second-round TKO to claim the title.
The co-main event will see Dominick Reyes take on Jan Blachowicz for the vacant light heavyweight title. This fight was originally supposed to take place at UFC 253, but was moved to UFC 255 after Reyes tested positive for COVID-19.
The rest of the main card is rounded out by a women’s flyweight bout between Katlyn Chookagian and Cynthia Calvillo, a bantamweight bout between Hakeem Dawodu and Zubaira Tukhugov, and a featherweight bout between Shane Young and Nate Landwehr.
