Early Life and Amateur Career

Conor Anthony McGregor was born in Crumlin, Dublin on July 14, 1988, the son of Tony and Marguerite McGregor. He was raised in the Catholic faith. He attended Erins Isle boxing club from the age of 12. McGregor began competing as an amateur boxer at age 18. In 2007, he moved with his family to Lucan in West Dublin, where he subsequently attended Gaelscoil Courtenay and then Darndale Belcamp College. In 2006, McGregor also began mixed martial arts (MMA) training at Curaçao Top Team.

This comes as a surprise to many, as McGregor had just recently fought in UFC 196 against Nate Diaz. He lost the bout in the second round via submission.

It is unclear what McGregor plans to do now that he has retired, but he has been hinting at a possible move into boxing.

In 2008, Conor McGregor started his own company, named after himself. He has also been a brand ambassador for Reebok and Burger King.
